Tannis Kobrinsky

Tannis Kobrinsky, owner of Pilates & Arts, has been an Echo Park resident for 17 years. Classically trained in Ballet, as well as Jazz and modern dance, she’s taught movement and fitness for 4 decades. A Theater major, she worked in the entertainment industry in front of and behind the camera, but teaching the joys and healing power of movement has been a constant and a passion all her life. She studied directly with Body Arts and Science International founder Rael Isacowitz, earning a comprehensive BASI Pilates certification in 2000. She certified in GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS in 2005. She’s taught Pilates since 2000 in Los Angeles and internationally, via her business, Health Habitravels. 2010 she produced and starred in the award winning DVD “WELL worked out with Tannis. ” and is also a produced and published writer.


Tannis Kobrinsky instructs the following:
  • Group Reformer Mixed Level
  • All levels welcome. 55-60 minute Pilates workout. Most of the session devoted to work on the spring loaded Pilates machines, but may also include some matwork. This is a mindful full body workout that builds core strength, increases flexibility, improves balance, alignment and coordination. Maximum of 6 students taught by 1 instructor. Small classes allow us to provide individual attention and hands on guidance.

  • Group Reformer mixed level

  • Pilates fusion on the mat
  • Energy-infused, fun workout weaves together Pilates' core work, energizing Qi Gong moves and gentle yoga based stretches. Eclectic music adds inspiration. This program keeps you strong, supple and healthy at every age! Beginners welcome!

  • Intermediate/Advanced Reformer
  • Group reformer for 3-6 participants. An intermediate to advanced class that generally includes the classical Pilates exercise regime and sequencing. Prior experience on the reformer and/or instructor’s approval required to join this class.

  • Stretch and Unwind
  • This is a great way to wind down from the week with a fusion of Pilates, dance and ballet stretches both at the barre and on the mat. All fitness levels welcome.

  • Group Reformer/jump board
  • Group reformer class that incorporates using the reformer jump board platform to do a cardio based workout ON the Pilates machine.  The springs on the machine make jumping a lower-impact move than performing the same movements upright.  Not recommended for those new to Pilates classes, during pregnancy, or for those with injuries or chronic health conditions.
